‘It’s a cliffhanger – with a different kind of a… a different deal’

When it comes to the Fast and Furious franchise, fans have big expectations when it comes to action sequences and dramatic plot twists.

But Vin Diesel has set the bar extraordinarily high for Fast X, suggesting it will have a cliffhanger ending that’s “never been done in Universal history”.

Warning: Spoilers ahead.

As it always the case, Fast X once again see’s Diesel’s character, Dom, on a mission to protect his family.

This time around, that’s from Dante Reyes, played by Jason Mamoa.

The plot sees Dante weasel his way into Dom’s crew, manipulating key members of his extended family. And his gang kidnap Dom’s son, Brian ‘Little B’ Marcos (Leo Abelo Perry).

Dom stops at nothing to get his son back, but that comes at a significant cost – his brother, Jakob, (John Cena).

But it doesn’t end there. Dom might have Little B back, but then their rescue plane is taken out by Aimes (Alan Ritchson) from ‘The Agency’.

That leaves Dom with only bad options. He had to drive off the road into a dam Dante has rigged with explosives.

But just when fans think it is over – because the credits are rolling – there’s one final scene.

It teases who fans can expect to challenge Dom in the next Fast film.

Teaming up with Charlize Theron’s Cypher and Michelle Rodriguez’s Letty is Gisele Yashar, played by Gal Gadot.

Diesel told Variety he had been planning to being Galdot back into the fold for some time.

“We had shot other things a long time ago, that might not have fit for that specific movie as a finale,” he told the publisher.

“It’s a very tricky thing because you want this great talent… you have to be very careful to maintain the emotional state of your audience at the end of the movie.

“So, that’s what you’re juggling. We’re just really lucky to have it work here.”

He continued: “This is the first time we’ve ever released a movie where the audience has essentially said ‘I see your bet and raise you.’ They are walking out of the theatre – because it’s a cliffhanger – with a different kind of a… a different deal.

“When you see this movie, you know we have to deliver the conclusion. Because we’ve never in Universal history had a cliffhanger like we had in this movie.”
