The Rock’s hilarious improv line made Ludacris break character but was used in Fast and Furious

Steve Hopkins

‘People always be talking about Luda’s reaction, but the fact Tyrese stayed in character the whole time to finish the scene was amazing’

The Rock made Ludacris break character and spray his drink everywhere with a line that was never in the Fast and Furious script.

But it still ended up being used in Fast & Furious 6 and has become one of the standout scenes.

As Johnson walks into the shot, Tyrese Gibson – who plays Roman in the franchise – jokes: “Hey, Mia, you better hide your baby oil!”

Not missing a beat, Johnson, who plays Luke Hobbs, adds a little spice to the barbecue scene, firing back with: “You better hide that big a** forehead.”

Taken by complete surprise by the line that was never in the script, Tej Parker (played by Ludacris) laughs and ends up spitting out his beer.

Given Tyrese didn’t break character, the moment never got cut.

One commenters on YouTube, said it was Tyrese who stole the scene: “People always be talking about Luda’s reaction, but the fact Tyrese stayed in character the whole time to finish the scene was amazing.”

Another added: “The best part is, the Rock literally forgot what he was supposed to say and just improvised. So that was Lud’s (Ludacris) actual reaction.”

The Fast and the Furious franchise launched in 2001, and the latest, Fast X will hit cinemas on 19 May.

The movie will see Vin Diesel – playing Dominic Toretto – and Jason Momoa take to the streets of Rome in what promises to be an adrenaline-pumping thriller.

Paul Walker is also due to feature in the film.

His character, Brian O’Conner, has been kept alive on screen using CGI and the late actor’s two brothers, Cody and Caleb Walker as body doubles.

Fast X is due to be the penultimate film, with part 2 due for release in 2025.
