Two brand new Pokémon have been leaked and we don’t know what to make of them

Well they look...nice

Pokémon has never actually gone anywhere, but right now it’s enjoying a huge surge in popularity not seen since the glory days of Game Boys and trading cards.

But while you’re all out giving chase to a Rattata and squaring up to a Snorlax on Pokémon Go, two brand new (and freakishly weird) Pokémon have burst onto the scene – or leaked through Japanese magazine CoroCoro, if you want to get bogged down in specifics.

The duo, which are yet to be given English names, will debut in the upcoming Nintendo 3DS game, Pokémon Sun and Moon, which is due out later this year.

Reliable Pokésource Serebii reports that Kiteruguma – that’s the pink bear thing that looks a bit like it’s rocking some kind of tiara – is a friendly Normal/Fighting type Pokémon that likes hugging trainers. That’s all well and good, but we hope it knows when it’s time to get its game face on.

At first glance the second Pokémon, a Ghost/Fairy type named Mimikkyu, resembles a sinister undead version of Pikachu. Luckily, it’s just a disguise that Serebii claims could be a strategy for avoiding direct sunlight.

There’s obviously no word as yet on whether the two as-yet unannounced Pokémon inductees will make it into Pokémon Go, but as the game continues to expand they could make an appearance somewhere down the line. Gotta catch ’em all, right?
