You can tell the popularity of a series when a term like ‘sniff-banging’ starts trending.
This Is England is revered as one of the great British dramas to ever hit our screens and, after a four-year hiatus, we’ve had the first reunion back with ‘the gang’.
But was it everything we hoped for? It certainly made us laugh far more than it used to.
Director Shane Meadows has already said the plot isn’t as bleak as previous incarnations, like ’86, which saw viewers affected by Lol’s harrowing rape ordeal.
But let’s remember, his style is to warm us up allowing us to become reacquainted with the characters as he prepares to lob the grenades.
