The best action film of the last decade is being remade

Tough to beat.

With John Wick 2 being released in cinemas this week, action junkies will be getting a much needed shot of adrenaline as Keanu Reeves reprises his role as the world's most badass hitman. Having seen the film, we're delighted to say that it's an absolute riot because everything that you loved about the original is back. What made John Wick different to other action films was that its directors, Chad Stahelski and David Leitch, really understood the genre that they were working in, especially when it came to style, stunts and their famous brand of gun-fu. Over the last decade, only one other film can probably claim to be a better action flick than John Wick and that's Gareth Evans' superb 2011 effort, The Raid. If you haven't seen the Indonesian epic then you're in for a real treat. In simple terms, the film revolves around a S.W.A.T. team that becomes trapped in a tenement building that's run by a ruthless mobster and his army of killers and thugs. Chaos ensues. Imagine combining the Sega Megadrive classic Streets of Rage, elements of Die Hard and the remarkable fight sequences of The Matrix.  That's The Raid. Like all great films that are made in a foreign language, the inevitable US remake is on the way and it's going to be written and directed by Joe Carnahan (Narc, Smoking Aces) Fear not though because Gareth Evans, the Welsh director that's responsible for the superb original, will also be involved as an executive producer. If the remake can capture even 25% of the manic energy from The Raid and its sequel, it's definitely going to be worth the price of your ticket. Best. Death.Ever.
