The best superhero show on television?

There are a lot of superhero shows around at the moment - The Boys, Titans, The Flash, Doom Patrol, Supergirl, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. But The Umbrella Academy might be the best. Well, it is definitely the weirdest. Anyway, we can debate about that all day. But we have some good news. The Umbrella Academy has been renewed for a third season by Netflix. The entire cast is set to reprise their roles, with Ellen Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, Justin H. Min, Ritu Arya, and Colm Feore all confirmed to be returning. The season three order includes ten one-hour episodes, just like the first two seasons, and will be produced by UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, for Netflix. Production is set to begin in February 2021, in Toronto, Canada.

Based on the comic book by Gerard Way and Gabriel Ba, The Umbrella Academy is not your usual superhero team. After women all around the world suddenly give birth simultaneously without having previously shown signs of pregnancy, seven of those babies are adopted by eccentric billionaire Sir Reginald Hargreeves, and grow up to become a superteam. The first season saw them trying to prevent the apocalypse. The second season did as well, but this time they'd been sent back in time to the 1960s. We have no plot details for the new series as of yet, but the first two seasons loosely followed the first two books of the comic. So we would predict that the third volume 'Hotel Oblivion' will probably offer some inspiration for the third season. The official synopsis for Hotel Oblivion reads: "Faced with an increasing number of lunatics with superpowers eager to fight his own wunderkind brood, Sir Reginald Hargreeves developed the ultimate solution." Make of that what you will.
