GMB stars pay emotional tribute to beloved colleague

Richard Madeley, Ranvir Singh and Laura Tobin have paid tribute to their colleague Donovan Parsons after the longtime ITN cameraman died following a battle with cancer.

Parsons had spent 25 years working with ITN, including alongside the team behind Good Morning Britain.

His death was announced on Thursday, prompting the presenters to share memories of the colleague who had worked behind the scenes on countless reports.

Singh spoke about her experience working with Parsons while covering political stories, describing him as a valued member of the crew who brought positivity to demanding assignments.

“I just want to take a moment to pay tribute to a loving, wonderful member of our crew,” she said. “Donovan Parsons, a long-standing cameraman, worked with ITN for 25 years.”

She went on to explain why people like Parsons were so important to a programme that relies on a large team working long hours, often in difficult conditions.

“It takes a whole family to put this programme on air,” Singh said. “When you work these ungodly hours overnight, in the middle of the night, sometimes in the freezing cold and the battling wind and rain, what you really need is upbeat, happy cameramen with a can-do attitude, and Donovan epitomised absolutely the absolute best of what you need.”

Richard Madeley reflects on the special bond behind GMB

Madeley also reflected on the strong working relationships within the Good Morning Britain team, saying Parsons had been one of the people who made it special.

“One of the huge things that I've enjoyed so much about joining this programme is the team,” he said. “It's a proper team effort. But, of course, in all teams there are always exceptional characters, and he was one.”

Tobin, who regularly worked with Parsons on location while presenting the weather, also joined the tributes.

During the broadcast, photographs of Parsons with his colleagues were shown on screen as the presenters remembered his contribution to the programme and the people who had the opportunity to work alongside him.
