‘This has become a nightmare for the network’
Married at First Sight star George Roberts has reportedly been arrested on suspicion of controlling and coercive behaviour, but will continue to feature on the E4 show.
The Sun revealed Roberts, 40, was arrested on Thursday, just over a week after the newspaper reported how three of his ex-girlfriends had raised concerns with police about his behaviour in relationships, and also complained to Channel 4.
Other women are said to have since come forward to also raise concerns, a source told the publisher.

Roberts, a dad of four, who works as a financial advisor, denies any wrongdoing.
The Met Police has said: “A 40-year-old man was arrested in Worcestershire on Thursday, September 29, on suspicion of controlling and coercive behaviour.
“He was taken to a police station and bailed pending further enquiries.”
In response to the initial allegations against Roberts Channel 4 spokesperson told JOE: “We work incredibly closely with our production partners to ensure all Married at First Sight UK contributors are subject to rigorous background and psychological checks, including the most detailed police checks a production is able to undertake.
“Any allegations of this nature are taken extremely seriously by Channel 4.”
Roberts’ wife on the show, former Ms Great Britain April Banbury is said to have struggled since the revelations came to light and earlier told how she has been seeking therapy since appearing on the weeknight show.
A source close to Roberts told The Sun: “April is having a very difficult time at the moment. She doesn’t want to ever see him again.”
Another insider explained: “This has been rumbling on for a while but now the police are involved, so many involved in the show thought surely they would have to pull it off air — or at the very least re-edit it.
“This has become a nightmare for the network, who didn’t know about allegations in his past before.”
Banbury, 33, hinted online last weekend that the relationship was now over.

She wrote: “The traumas that have been brought on from this show have made me re-evaluate things. I’m not ashamed to admit, I’ve been seeing a therapist.”
