His exes are horrified

Married At First Sight UK star George Roberts married a stranger – at first sight, of course – on TV as three exes reportedly make complaints of his alleged emotional abuse to the police.

The 40-year-old is currently starring in the current series of Married at First Sight UK which airs on Channel 4’s E4.

Experts of the popular show paired George with former Ms Great Britain April Banbury, and sparks immediately started flying between the two when they met for the first time at the altar.

However, George, already a fan-favourite, has allegedly now been accused of ’emotional abuse’ from three of his ex-girlfriends who have claimed that they made police complaints about him after learning George was set to appear on the show.

The Sun reports that George’s three ex-girlfriends allegedly made independent complaints to police about his alleged “obsessive”, “manipulative” and “abusive” behaviour.

The three women were allegedly left ‘horrified’ after seeing George in trailers for the current series of the E4 match-making show.

After raising their concerns with police, the three women claim that their worries were ignored by officials and Channel 4.

They each allegedly told police that the financial advisor ‘love-bombed’ them by showering them with affection and gifts before they claim his behaviour turned ‘coercive and controlling’.

Speaking to the publication, one of George’s exes claimed: “I’m so shocked to see he has been given a platform on a TV show. I messaged Married at First Sight. I said I reported him to the police.

“They asked for additional information which I gave and I never heard anything further.”

George’s second ex claimed: “I contacted Married at First Sight, E4 and All4 and the producers to tell them he was a known emotional and mental abuser of women.”

Channel 4 spokesperson told Joe.co.uk: “We work incredibly closely with our production partners to ensure all Married at First Sight UK contributors are subject to rigorous background and psychological checks, including the most detailed police checks a production is able to undertake.

“Any allegations of this nature are taken extremely seriously by Channel 4.”
