Getting to this point has not been straightforward. Kim previously tried to arrange a private catch-up over coffee, but Mary Goskirk's unexpected arrival disrupted the meeting before she could explain everything. Thea was left feeling hurt and eventually walked out.

Charity encourages Kim to fight for a relationship with Thea

Kim subsequently sought advice from Charity Dingle, opening up about her attempts to rebuild the relationship. 

Charity was reportedly surprised to learn that Thea, Kim's long-lost daughter, is a serving police officer. She encouraged Kim to persevere, leading to the public introduction now planned for next week.

Despite being eager to bring Thea into the family, Kim is reportedly concerned about how the villagers will take the news. 

Her reputation for being an unconventional mother has left her questioning whether everyone will welcome the announcement.
