As she teased how wife Beth reacts when the truth surfaces, Hollyoaks star Rebekah Ryan says Jonah Keane's plan to convince son Caleb he's seriously ill is falling apart.
To keep him looking unwell, Jonah Keane has spent months drugging Caleb, all the while doctors can find nothing wrong with the teenager.
His wife Beth has no idea.
Meanwhile, Rebekah Ryan, who plays Beth, has now given the clearest hint yet that his cover is close to blowing.
Ryan's interview appeared in Hollyoaks' first details of Jonah Keane's comeuppance.
She explained how Beth will take the news once she learns the truth about her husband.
Ryan said: "She'd find it really hard to process because their relationship is so strong and she needs Jonah – he's her superhero".
Beth has never kept anything from Jonah.
Ryan says that history makes his deception harder for her to forgive.
She pointed to an earlier scandal involving Maddox, when Beth stayed loyal even as the wider family fell apart.
Rather than leave once the truth lands, Ryan suggested Beth might still choose to stand by Jonah.
"I'd like to think that she might stick by him and just be like, 'Let's get you help and work together and sort this'," she said.
"It's so complex and deep, but I do think the relationship is so strong that she wouldn't want to believe it."
These comments mark the first real signal that the storyline is heading towards a confrontation.
Hollyoaks has not confirmed when Caleb's health lies will finally reach Beth.
For months, the show has been building the deception.
The strain has already pulled Jonah further away from Beth the longer he keeps up the act.
Ryan's interview suggests that gap is about to become impossible to hide.
Rather than a quiet resolution, Rebekah Ryan's comments point to a direct confrontation between Beth and Jonah.
Hollyoaks has not set an air date, however.
In spite of doctors finding nothing wrong with him, Jonah has repeatedly drugged his son and insisted Caleb is seriously ill.
