Former Emmerdale actress Roxanne Pallett has said that she “overreacted” and “got it wrong” in relation to the incident that led to her departure from Celebrity Big Brother.

Pallett walked out of Celebrity Big Brother over the weekend after accusing Coronation Street actor Ryan Thomas of punching her in the ribs.

The accusation quickly provoked an enormous backlash, and Ofcom received 11,000 complaints from the British public, with many feeling that Pallett mischaracterised the incident.

Social media has also been abuzz with complaints about Pallett’s behaviour.

Speaking in an interview with Jeremy Vine on Monday morning, Pallett has admitted that she “got it wrong” and said she “overreacted” to the situation because the pressures of being on reality television had heightened her insecurities and clouded her judgment.

Thomas had maintained throughout that there was no malicious intent in his actions, and that he believed that the pair were play-fighting.

He has since wept in the Big Brother diary room, and claimed that he feels like a “broken man” since the accusation.

A statement from Pallett had originally said: “Roxanne decided to leave the CBB house late last night after deliberating for two days with some sensitive issues she felt strongly about.”

“She has now been reunited with her fiancé and family and thanks everyone for their support during her time in the show.”
