“Richard was travelling quite fast when he came off. It caused instant horror on set,” a show source told The Sun.
“There was a lot of concern.
“If his injuries had been serious it wouldn’t have been easy to get medical attention.
“It’s very remote there and facilities are basic.”
The accident comes 11 years after Hammond nearly lost his life while filming an episode of Top Gear back in September 2006.
Hammond crashed a jet car that was travelling at 288 mph at the time of the crash.
He spent two weeks in a coma and didn’t appear on TV for a year while recovering from the accident, later revealing that he suffered depression, paranoia and memory loss as a result of brain damage incurred.Explore more on these topics:
