People are kicking off after Pokemon Go servers go down

Nobody panic!

Tom Victor

There’s an argument that we should have all seen this coming.

The UK release of Pokemon Go was delayed due to unexpected strain on the game’s servers causing them to crash, so should we be surprised that the official launch on these shores has been followed by, you guessed it, the servers crashing?

It’s sunny, it’s the first weekend since Pokemon Go officially landed in the UK, and there are Pokemon out there waiting to be caught.

After all, that reality won’t augment itself.

People have responded with despair…

And hurt…

And anger…

Attempts have been made to make the best of a bad situation…

At the time of writing, there is no immediate indication as to when the servers will be back up and running.

The crash comes on the same day that Pokemon Go received its official launch in more than 20 new European countries, including Denmark, Sweden and Norway.

Australia, New Zealand and the United States were among the first countries to officially gain access to the mobile game, though users elsewhere have been able to download it to their smartphones using workarounds such as changing their App Store location.

While you wait for the servers to come back up, why not revisit some of the best Pokemon Go moments we’ve found so far.

Update: the Pokemon Go Twitter account is attributing the downtime to a DDOS attack.
