Nearly everyone listed ‘The Dark Knight’ as one of their #Fav7Films

It beat some film classics to first place...

With a simple hashtag, social media saw itself overrun with cinephiles as movie lovers around the world took part in the #Fav7Films movement.

The game was simple enough, you just listed your seven favourite films and waited for someone to start an argument compliment you on your good taste.

Thanks to the folk at Fizziology, we know now the internet’s favourite film.

Following a  team up with Mashable, the tech company revealed that the film that was tweeted the most using the hashtag was Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight.

According to Fizziology’s stats, The Dark Knight was mentioned 5,056 times between 5 a.m. and 7 p.m. ET on Monday.

Coming close in second place was Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction.

Fizziology’s top 10 manages to feature choices from The Godfather trilogy, Goodfellas, and Fight Club, showing that either the internet has really good taste… or people that used the #Fav7Films were very much of one demographic.

In a fun twist, social media users ranked Space Jam a better film than Woody Allen’s Annie Hall… which is the correct judgement in our opinion. Only one film has Bugs Bunny and it’s not Woody’s.

Right, that’s the internet’s favourite films sorted: someone want to set up a big screening season in cinemas around the country?
