Michael J. Fox to receive Bob Hope Humanitarian Award at Emmys

A special honour
The Television Academy has confirmed that Michael J. Fox will receive the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award at this year's Emmy Awards, honouring his long campaign for Parkinson's disease research.
The organisation announced the news on Wednesday, describing the recognition as a tribute to his work off screen as much as on it.
In its citation, the Television Academy said the award was being presented to Fox in recognition of his transformative contributions to Parkinson’s disease research and advocacy
Established in 2002, the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award has previously recognised some of Hollywood’s biggest names, including Oprah Winfrey, George Clooney and Sean Penn.
In 2025, the honour made history when Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen became the first couple to receive the prestigious award.
It places Fox alongside some of the ceremony's most celebrated recipients.
Why Michael J. Fox is being honoured
Fox remains among some of television's biggest names, and he is also an Emmy nominee this year for his guest role in Apple TV's comedy Shrinking, an award handed out at the non-televised ceremony on 6 September.
The Bob Hope honour will be presented during the main 78th Emmy Awards telecast on 14 September, carried on NBC.
