"He deserves it".

“I’ll give him a piece of mine because he is the face of the UFC.”

Big-time actor and the man formerly known as Marky Mark, Mark Wahlberg, said he’ll give Conor McGregor a piece of his stake in the UFC following McGregor’s comments after defeating Eddie Alvarez in New York last weekend.

Along with the likes of Conan O’Brien, Tom Brady, Ben Affleck, Venus and Serena Williams and Sylvester Stallone, Wahlberg was one of a host of celebrities to invest in the UFC when it was bought by Hollywood talent agency WME-IMG for $4 billion (approximately €3.77 billion) in July.

After defeating Alvarez in Madison Square Garden last Saturday, McGregor demanded a greater share of the UFC pie considering that he is undoubtedly the biggest star in the UFC right now and probably in the history of the organisation.

After spotting Wahlberg in Beverly Hills this week, TMZ Sports asked him for his thoughts on McGregor’s comments in the wake of his victory over Alvarez, which made him a champion in two weight divisions.

Having initially replied that McGregor needs to “cut the cheque,” Wahlberg then said that he’d give McGregor a piece of his stake in the organisation because “he is the face of the UFC” and because “he deserves it”.

While it’s hard to get away from the impression that Wahlberg was keen to get away from the TMZ reporter, he also said of McGregor: “He’s a hustler like me so there’s probably a lot of other opportunities for us to go out there and make money and work together.”

And when asked about whether he and McGregor could make a movie together, he said: “He’s a movie waiting to happen so why not?”

Make sure to watch right until the end to catch his line about the paint being scratched on his car by the way; it’s a good one.
