How did they end up doing this?

Ricky Wilson and Simon Rix of the Kaiser Chiefs have teamed up in the studio to record the theme song for the new Zig and Zag show. The legendary puppets will be making their return in the spring of 2016 on BBC kids channel, CBBC. We all remember Zig and Zag as life-sized, furry otherworldly creatures, but it looks like the kids of today will (disappointingly) only get to know them as two-dimensional cartoon characters.
