John Malkovich film from 2015 isn’t set to be released until we’re all dead

Harry Warner

It better be worth it

John Malkovich made a film back in 2015 that is not set to be released until we are all dead.

That’s right, the famous American actor has got everyone looking to either cheat death or commit a heist to be able to find out what exactly we’re all going to be missing out on.

The film which was directed by Robert Rodriguez and written by John Malkovich, who also stars in the film, is slated for release on the 18 November 2115.

It’s title? Well of course it suitably named 100 Years: The Movie You Will Never See.

That sounds like a challenge…

Regardless, the film has been shrouded in secrecy, bar the little information gathered from three short trailers of the same scene of varying themes titled ‘Retro’, ‘Nature’ and ‘Future’.

The most notably talking point, however, is not the multi-award winning and Oscar nominated actor Malkovich, but the promotional collaboration with Louis XIII Cognac which takes centre stage in the short clip.

The cognac, which is brandy but gets its name from the French region where it is produced, is owned by Rémy Martin, long-time cognac makers.

The film is inspired by the 100 years it takes to make a bottle of Louis XIII cognac, mirroring this technique of leaving the alcohol untouched for a century to create a masterpiece.

Of course, as always, the proof is in the tasting, however, sadly for most of us we will never get that chance.

The picture has been described as a experimental science fiction film with so far only three confirmed cast members involved.

These are John Malkovich as the male protagonist, Shuya Chang of Snakehead fame as the female lead and martial artist and John Wick actor Marko Zaror as what appears to be the villain of the film.

It’s not just the visuals which are being kept under wraps, but the soundtrack too with a song by Pharrell Williams also featuring in the film which a select few were lucky enough to listen to at an event in Shanghai in 2017.

He pitched a challenge to humanity with his track, storing it on a water-soluble clay disk meaning it could be destroyed if water levels rise too high and nobody thinks about taking it to higher ground.

Once again, this better be worth it.

For people who believe this is only a publicity stunt, which it kind of is, and is not genuine will be impressed to know the physical copy of the film has been stored deep in the cellars of Louis XIII in Cognac, France, hidden in a high-tech safe that is protected by bulletproof glass.

Upon humanity’s arrival on the 18 November 2115, the safe will automatically open, allowing one thousand invitees to be the first to watch 100 Years for the first time.

Relatives of Malkovich and Rodriguez have been given tickets to hand down to their chosen descendants meaning their nearest and dearest will get first viewing of this enigmatic flick.

And if you’re wondering how long you’ll need to live for to witness this film, well if you were born before 2000 the odds are heavily stacked against you, if you were born in the 2010’s good luck and anyone born from around the present day onwards probably has a decent chance.

Once again, it better be worth it.
