ITV bosses warned of ‘serious concerns’ about Phillip Schofield as early as 2020

A number of Loose Women panellists made their fears known

The station has claimed it wasn't aware of the relationship, but an email has now been discovered that tells a different story.

A senior manager working on Loose Women forwarded the email to channel bosses including Kevin Logo, ITV's managing director for entertainment, The Mail on Sunday reports.

The email which was sent in early 2020 outlined concerns around duty of care and described the young man as a vulnerable employee.

But no formal investigation was launched, and Mr Lygo later said he had "no recollection" of receiving the correspondence. When questioned he said: "I don't think that I can recall, honestly". 

At the time the email was sent, the employee in question had been moved from This Morning to Loose Women.

The correspondence came about after a number of panellists on Loose Women made their fears known. Presenter Eamonn Holmes said he and his wife Loose Women anchor Ruth Langsford knew the man, now in his mid-20s and described him as  'fragile' and 'in a bad way'.

ITV are now privately conducting an external inquiry into the situation.
