If the new EELS video doesn’t make you smile then you have no soul

Will Lavin

Happy 2.0.

As the EELS ready the release of their 12th studio album, The Deconstruction, they’ve released a video for new single “Today Is the Day”.

Directed by Gus Black, and starring Mike Mitchell of Netflix’s LOVE, a series that EELS frontman E also stars in, the video is as upbeat as the song itself.

All about seizing the moment and making those changes you’ve been meaning to make for quite some time, the video feels like a sequel to Pharrell’s worldwide smash hit, “Happy”. But where is Mike going? Who is he going to see? All will be revealed at the end of the video.

Speaking on the upcoming new album, E says:

“Here are 15 new EELS tracks that may or may not inspire, rock, or not rock you. The world is going nuts. But if you look for it, there is still great beauty to be found. Sometimes you don’t even have to look for it. Other times you have to try to make it yourself. And then there are times you have to tear something apart to find something beautiful inside.”

Also embarking on a UK tour in July, the EELS will touch down in London, Manchester and Glasgow. The dates are as follows:

July 2nd – UK, London, O2 Academy Brixton

July 3rd – UK, Manchester, Manchester Academy

July 4th – UK, Glasgow, O2 Academy

Look out for an interview we did with E in the coming weeks as the EELS frontman discusses the new album, living in a country ran by a reality TV star, and why he decided to come back to music after having a four year break.
