Golden Globes crowd stunned by host’s controversial P Diddy joke

The Diddy joke prompted a controversial reaction online

Golden Globes host Nikki Glaser draw gasps from the star-studded crowd after she made a controversial joke about P Diddy.

Glaser was host of the awards ceremony this year after last year’s host Jo Koy was met with a lukewarm reception from both those in attendance and watching at home.

But the comedian didn’t play it safe with her hosting duties, deciding to make a few pretty risqué jokes throughout the night.

Along with taking aim at some of the A-listers in the crowd, Glaser also decided to make a controversial joke about rapper P Diddy. The music mogul was arrested last year on charges of sex trafficking and racketeering, and is accused of hosting drug-fuelled orgies known as ‘freak offs.’

The serious charges and allegations against him didn’t discourage Glaser from making a joke about him though.

She said during the awards show: “Zendaya, you were incredible in Dune, oh my God, I woke up for all of your scenes. You were so good.

“And Challengers, girl? Oh my God! That movie was more sexually charged than Diddy’s credit card, I mean seriously.”

She continued: “I’m sorry, I’m upset too. The afterparty is not going to be as good this year, but we have to move on.

“I know a Stanley Tucci freak off doesn’t have the same ring to it. No baby oil this year, just lots of olive oil.”

During a raid on Diddy’s house, officers seized drugs and more than 1,000 bottles of baby oil.

Reacting to Glaser’s joke at home, some viewers thought it was in poor taste and shouldn’t have been mentioned.

One person said: “This wasn’t the right joke to make at all…”

A second wrote: “Every Diddy joke is so corny and extremely insensitive, i need y’all guys to understand that.”

“Nikki Glaser absolutely on fire during that monologue then had to ruin it with the Diddy joke ohhh brother,” someone else said.

The musician, real name Sean Combs, denies all the charges against him and entered a not guilt plea on September 17.

He had been denied bail twice and is being held at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Centre.
