Game of Thrones stars have recorded a Rick and Morty commentary and it’s geek heaven

Paul Moore

Pickle Riiiiiick for the Iron Throne!

Jon Snow and Daenerys are going to need all the help they can get when it comes to defending The North from the Night King, so maybe they can use the help of the galaxy’s smartest man?

Then again, it’s very likely that Rick Sanchez would say “I’m sorry Jon Snow, your opinion means very little to me” if asked to help the cause. After all, Jon does know nothing.

One thing we do know is that David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, the showrunners of Game of Thrones, are massive fans of Rick and Morty and the two men even provided some audio commentary for one of the best episodes from Season 3 of the superb show, Pickle Rick.

This being said, the two men weren’t alone as Peter Dinklage (Tyrion ‘f**king’ Lannister) was also in attendance.

If you haven’t seen Pickle Rick then you’re missing out because the entire episode is batshit crazy.

Basically, Rick turns himself into a pickle while Beth, Summer, and Morty go to family therapy. What unfolds is 25 minutes of blood-soaked carnage as Rick battles a litany of sewer creatures, hired goons and one badass assassin named Jaguar.

The episode also gives its guest star (Susan Sarandon) a superb monologue that cuts to the very core of Rick C-137.

As you can hear in the commentary below, Benioff dubs that particular moment as “the best writing in 2017″ while Weiss describes it as “the perfect Rick monologue followed by an even better Rick monologue.”

The clip was shared to Entertainment Weekly and they remarked that the Game of Thrones creators are massive fans of Rick and Morty.

“Rick and Morty is one of the funniest, smartest things ever put on TV; every one of its 22-minute plots is more ambitious than 99 percent of the science-fiction films that will be made in the next 10 year,” they said.

We’re taking that as confirmation that Rick gets the Iron Throne at the end fo Season 8.
