Russell Crowe has signed on to star in Bluefly, a military sci-fi action film that will see the Oscar winner play opposite Priyanka Chopra Jonas. The casting brings together two of the biggest names attached to the project so far.
The film will be directed by Nimród Antal, the filmmaker behind Predators, from a script written by David Frigerio, William Eubank and Carlyle Eubank. No other cast members have been announced, and details of the characters played by Crowe and Chopra Jonas are being kept under wraps for now. The film ranks among the higher-profile science-fiction outings for both leads, though its plot specifics remain tightly guarded as the production takes shape.
Filming is expected to get under way on the Gold Coast of Australia in late 2026. It marks another action-driven role for the actor, whose commanding screen presence has anchored everything from awards contenders to blockbusters — including his star turn atop any definitive ranking of Gladiator stars.
With the story still developing, more casting announcements are expected in the coming weeks, as Screen Rant reported. For now, the pairing of an Oscar-winning leading man with one of Hollywood's most recognisable global stars has quickly made Bluefly one of the more talked-about action projects heading into next year.
