Shearer, the voice of Mr. Burns, Ned Flanders and Principal Skinner amongst others, originally announced his intention to leave because of contractual difficulties.
However, according to Entertainment Weekly, he has now signed on for the next two seasons along with all the other principal voice actors.

Shearer's issues were less to do with money (Shearer and the other main voice actors reportedly earn in excess of $300,000 per episode) and more the freedom to work on other projects.
Whatever issues there were appear to have been resolved, as The Simpsons confirmed that all of the principal actors had been signed.
https://twitter.com/TheSimpsons/status/618479945287766016While Shearer's return is a welcome development for Simpsons fans, it is unlikely to address the perceived decline in quality since the show's peak in the mid to late 90s.
Still, for now, forgive us for being at least a little bit happy at the news...
