Arguably one of the best executed music biopics to have ever graced the big screen, Eminem's 8 Mile has finally arrived on Netflix.
While technically it's classed as more a dramatisation than a biopic, who are the creators kidding? It's about Eminem's real-life. Using his talents as a lyricist, 8 Mile is the story of Em's rise from the poverty stricken Detroit streets to the flashing lights of fame, fortune and accolades.
Directed by Curtis Hanson, the same man who gave us L.A. Confidential starring Russell Crowe and Kim Basinger, 8 Mile is the story of a young down-on-his-luck MC (B-Rabbit) fighting his way through everything life throws at him. From working in a dead-end job he hates and being a father with a difficult baby mother, to his drug-addicted mother and beefs with rival crews, it's obvious that nothing worth having is going to be easy for B-Rabbit.
Battling his way to the top of rap's totem pole in a series of MC battles held at "The Shelter", it all comes down to one moment for B-Rabbit when he must face off against his longstanding nemesis, Papa Doc (played by Marvel's own Falcon, Anthony Mackie), in one of the most memorable movie scenes of the past 20 years.
Spawning the Oscar-winning song "Lose Yourself", the 8 Mile soundtrack has won a ton of awards and is still to this day one of rap's most iconic soundtracks.
Watch the epic showdown between B-Rabbit and Papa Doc after the jump and be sure to check out 8 Mile in its entirety from the comfort of your own home on Netflix.
