Even if you're not a fan of his music, there's no denying that Ed Sheeran is a good egg.
We've all heard stories about how he helped people out
of financial difficulty and surprised fans with
impromptu gigs at shopping centres and
weddings, but in a superb interview with
The Guardian, he may have just won some new fans with this tale about a night when he "got hammered and cracked Justin Bieber in the face with a golf club."
Aside from speaking about the release of his third album ÷, the singer also told this cracking anecdote about a time that he was in Japan with the Canadian singer and decided to embrace his inner Happy Gilmore.
Speaking with
Alexis Petridis, the Thinking Out Loud singer said: “We were in Japan. We’d been out to a dive bar. He just drank water and I got hammered. Then we went to a golf course, and he lay on the floor and put a golf ball in his mouth and told me to hit it out of his mouth. I was like, ‘Fuck, I need to aim this properly,’ and I swung. And you know in films when someone gets punched, and you hear that fake sound, like a slap? But in real life when someone gets punched, you hear that dull thud, a bit sickening? I heard a sound like the last one, and saw his security guard looking at me like” – he pulls a horrified expression. “I’d cracked Justin Bieber right in the cheek with a golf club.
We wonder if Bieber was left seeing 'All of the Stars' after getting smacked in the head. To be fair, he probably walked away with only a 'Small Bump' for his troubles.
