Ed Sheeran announces he is engaged to girlfriend Cherry Seaborn

Ed Sheeran announced on Saturday afternoon that he is now engaged to his long-term girlfriend Cherry Seaborn. The singer told the world his news via his Instagram account, with the caption:

"Got myself a fiancé just before new year. We are very happy and in love, and our cats are chuffed as well xx"

The pair travelled around the world together during Sheeran's hiatus from social media, when he ditched technology and took a sabbatical year. Cherry is a hockey player, and won bronze with the England U-21 side at the European Championships in 2012. Speaking to Zane Lowe, Ed Sheeran said that "This has been the first time I've ever actually had the time to fall in love properly." In the same interview, the singer also revealed that he is ready to be a dad:

"I wanted to be a dad, like, last year. I'm ready, let's go - tour bus babies, little fat, chubby babies that just walk around."

Thankfully, that won't mean an end to the music from the sounds of things. Although, hopefully this doesn't mean Ed runs out of things to write songs about...
