Three Doctor Who leads will appear together for the first time, with Peter Capaldi cast in a recurring role in Only Murders in the Building season 6 alongside David Tennant and Jodie Whittaker, Screen Rant reports, citing Deadline.
The Hulu mystery series’ new season moves to London for one of the biggest cases yet for its core trio, played by Martin Short, Steve Martin and Selena Gomez.
Tennant, who played the Tenth and Fourteenth Doctors, was previously announced for an undisclosed recurring role in the upcoming batch of episodes.
Capaldi’s casting, the Twelfth Doctor, now unites the pair on screen, while Whittaker, the Thirteenth and first female Doctor, also has a recurring role.
Despite their vital roles in the sci-fi series, the three actors have never shared the screen at once.
Tennant’s Tenth Doctor briefly teamed up with the Twelfth in the 2013 special The Day of the Doctor, but Capaldi himself did not appear until the following episode, when Matt Smith’s Eleventh Doctor regenerated.
It is another major British reunion for screen fans, hot on the heels of reports of The Inbetweeners stars signing up to return for a third film, and it hands Whovians a genuine first when the season lands.
Each actor’s role remains under wraps for now.
