Richard Osman has offered a surprising glimpse into the race to find the next James Bond, claiming he has been told who is set to take over the iconic role.
It has been five years since the last 007 film, and speculation over the next Bond has only intensified since the new instalment was officially announced in May.
A string of high-profile actors have been linked to the part, with names including Callum Turner, Tom Francis, Jacob Elordi and Aaron Taylor-Johnson repeatedly emerging as supposed frontrunners.
According to Osman, the actor who may have secured one of Hollywood’s most coveted roles is actually someone who has largely flown under the radar in comparison.
Speaking on his podcast The Rest Is Entertainment, the presenter, producer and writer revealed that someone had recently told him “for definite” who the next Bond would be.
Osman then suggested that Slow Horses star Jack Lowden could be the latest leading contender for the role.
“It is definitively not a 'he's definitely got it' thing. He is definitely being strongly considered. I think he'd be amazing.”

Jack Lowden has also been quietly building a CV that makes him a believable choice for 007.
He is best known for playing MI5 agent River Cartwright in Apple TV+’s Slow Horses, but his next role could make him an even more recognisable name. Lowden is set to play the iconic Mr Darcy in Netflix’s upcoming adaptation of Pride and Prejudice.
