The controversial interview has resurfaced and Letterman has been urged to apologise

Renowned TV chat show host David Letterman is facing a backlash over a 2013 interview with Lindsay Lohan, with his behaviour during the interview the subject of fresh scrutiny.

Lohan, who was 26 years of age at the time, appeared on the classic talk show to speak about an upcoming movie, though the conversation quickly shifted to her addictions.

When asked, she informed the veteran interviewer of the date she had set to check into a rehab facility, as more and more addiction-based questions came her way.

“What are they rehab-ing? What is on their list? What are they going to work on when you walk through the door?” Letterman continued, to laughter from the in-studio audience.

In response, Lohan makes the point that her rehab was not brought up in the pre-interview and is visibly uncomfortable with the nature of the questions.

Many social media users have urged Letterman to apologise for his behaviour in the interview, although no official comment has been made by the TV host to date.

The interview resurfaced in light of the recent New York Times documentary about Britney Spears, where the media and public’s treatment of young, female celebrities was called into question.
