Bar introduces a 'Johnny Depp Shot to help men feeling unsafe get help'

A bar has gone viral after introducing a drink named after Johnny Depp to supposedly help men discretely seek help. The unknown tavern has sparked a debate on social media after a sign it erected to promote the drink began circulating. The sign states that you can discreetly let bar staff know if you're in trouble if you order a shot named after the Pirates of the Caribbean star who was awarded $10m in damages in June after taking his ex-wife, Amber Heard, to court. Depp sued Heard for defamation over an op-ed she wrote which he believed implied he abused her. The drink is thought to be a take on the Angel Shot that was designed to help women who might feel unsafe or uncomfortable because of other customers, but could equally just be a publicity stunt.

"Feeling unsafe or scared, just come to the bar and order a Johnny Depp shot," the sign says. There are three versions of the shot and they will illicit different responses and actions from the bar staff. If you order the shot neat you will get safely escorted out of the bar by an employee. If you want it on the rocks then an employee will call a taxi for you. And if you get it with lime then the bar will call the police. "We will handle things discreetly and without fuss," the sign says. While the Angel Shot has been praised for giving women a subtle way of getting help in a sticky situation, the Depp shots had had mixed reviews so far.
