Goodman was staunchly anti-LGBT, having once told The Independent that 'natural [i.e., heterosexual] marriage is the only valid martial option'.
Earlier this week, Goodman resigned from his position in the government, after allegedly being found in his office having sex with another man.
Goodman released a statement (via The Washington Post) which said: "We all bring our own struggles and our own trials into public life. His boss, the Ohio House Speaker Cliff Rosenberger, told The New York Times: "I met with him later in the day where he acknowledged and confirmed the allegations. It became clear that his resignation was the most important course of action for him, his family, the constituents of the 87th House District and this institution."
