The breakout star of Netflix’s Fyre Festival documentary is getting his own show

Petition to name it ‘Take One For The Team’

It’s been out a few weeks, so you’ve probably watched FYRE: The Greatest Party That Never Happened on Netflix by now.

For those living under a rock, Fyre Festival was a disastrous attempt to launch a new, highly exclusive and luxurious music experience that went spectacularly wrong.

The documentary does a great job of explaining just how – there’s a documentary by Hulu that’s also worth your time, too – and there’s been a big reaction since it arrived online last month.

Take your pick from fundraisers to help innocent workers who were left out of pocket, the hysterical reaction of Ja Rule and, but of course, a man by the name of Andy King who stole the show with a truly jaw-dropping story.

The event promoter has become a viral sensation following his now-infamous “take one for the team” anecdote, even if he himself doesn’t quite understand why.

Now comes the news that King looks set to become a regular fixture on our screens.

Speaking with Vanity Fair over the weekend, the 58-year-old revealed that the world of television is calling his name.

“I had three TV show offers this week, from notable networks,” he said, before outlining just what kind of show he’d like to front.

“You’re too young to remember this, but in the old world of TV it was The Carol Burnett Show and these fun, light-hearted shows that weren’t all crime-related,” King told his interviewer.

“You see the attractiveness of HGTV [Home and Garden Television] today. People love Flip or Flop or Fixer Upper. Let’s just say it’s going to be a show about hosting crazy events – what it takes to make them happen.

“There will be cliff-hangers, and you’ll get to follow me around and see how I pull them off.”

So there you have it. Reality TV hero Andy King.

“I think I’m being given a platform that a lot of people, at age 58 especially, don’t get the opportunity to have,” King noted. “And I’m kind of excited about it.”
