It’s a well-told tale that Hollywood puts unattainable beauty standards on women and is notoriously sexist, and what happened to Amy Schumer at her first audition proves it.

The Trainwreck star was told “you should either lose weight or gain a bunch of weight, like be the fat friend or the romantic lead”.

The comic was shocked by her first experience when she embarked on her career in the movie industry but thinks it’s a very “self-inflicted thing” because “people put pressure on ourselves and hold ourselves to this unrealistic standard”.

Schumer, 33, also described how she deals with Twitter trolls.

She told the Mirror’s Notebook magazine: “I want to throw my hands in the air after reading a mean Twitter comment and say, ‘Alright! You got it. You figured me out. I’m not pretty. I’m not thin. I do not deserve to use my voice … All my self-worth is based on what you can see. But then I think f*** that.”
