Our TV movie pick for this weekend is The Night House, a 2020 mystery horror thriller starring recent JOE interviewee Rebecca Hall.
The Godzilla actress plays Beth, a widow reeling from the unexpected death of her husband Owen (Evan Jonigkeit).
Left alone in the lakeside home Owen built for her, Beth begins digging into her husband’s belongings – yearning for answers.
“What she finds are secrets both strange and disturbing – a mystery she’s determined to unravel,” the plot synopsis reads.
Released amid the COVID pandemic, The Night House deserves a bigger audience thanks to Hall’s phenomenal emotional lead performance, the movie’s gripping and consistently surprising plot, as well as its creepy and tense atmosphere.
Boasting an 88% Rotten Tomatoes score, the film is airing on TV this weekend on Saturday on Film4 at 11.40pm. If that is too late for readers, it is also streaming on Disney+.
