Police find dissolved remains of woman inside crate hidden between two walls

The woman’s ex confessed to the murder while being questioned about killing his current girlfriend

The remains of a young woman have been found behind a wall at her old flat.

Sibora Gagani had been missing for more than nine years when she was discovered by Spanish police.

The 22-year-old disappeared on 7 July 2014, shortly after breaking up with her boyfriend, Marco Gaio Romeo, but Torremolinos police were forced to abandon their search after finding nothing.

But the case was cracked wide open last month when Romeo was detained on 17 May for the murder of his new girlfriend, who has been named only as Paula.

Paula, from Italy, was allegedly stabbed 14 times by Romeo who was the dad to one of her three children.

Romeo was last seen entering and leaving the 28-year-old’s home.

Arriving at the Torremolinos police station Romeo reportedly saw Sibora’s picture on a noticeboard and confessed to murdering her.

He is said to have also told police that he dissolved the Italian-Albanian woman’s body in acid before walling them up in a box.

The 45-year-old did not, however, admit to killing Paula.

Police then re-opened the case into Sibora’s disappearance.

According to a central government official’s statement, Romeo claimed to have dissolved Sibora’s remains in acid before walling them up in a box, MailOnline reported.

Members of the Specialized and Violent Crime Unit of the National Police inspected the attic apartment where the couple lived together before the disappearance, MailOnline reported.

After noticing that the lines through floor tiles on either side of what was believed to be just one wall were inconsistent, officers used an X-ray system and found a wooden crate hidden between two walls.

Inside, the body was distributed between bin bags. Police also found a bouquet of flowers.

The remains are yet to be officially identified.

The new tenants of the apartment are said to be cooperating with the investigators while the case continues.
