‘I have no regrets for what I did’

A woman in India allegedly chopped off her boyfriend’s genitals after he tried to rape her 14-year-old daughter, telling local media she “caught him red-handed.”

The unnamed parent, 36, arrived home to find her 32-year-old boyfriend as he attempted to rape her daughter in their home in the Uttar Pradesh state of India on August 17. She claims that upon attempting to stop him, he tried to attack her, and so she grabbed a knife from the kitchen.

“I was working in the farm when the incident took place,” she told the Times of India. “Fortunately I returned home in the nick of time and caught him red-handed.”

She added: “I brought a knife from the kitchen and chopped off his private parts to teach him a lesson. I have no regrets for what I did.”

According to local media, the couple had been living together for two years after she abandoned her husband because of his drinking habits. Their property is in the Mahevaganj area of Lakhimpur Kheri, 100 miles east of New Delhi.

The unnamed man was arrested on suspicion of rape under the protection of children from sexual offences act and is currently in critical condition in hospital. He has been referred to another clinic in Lucknow for further treatment.

It is not yet known whether the mother will face charges.

“The 32-year-old accused has been booked under section 376 rape of IPC and the POCSO act,” said SHO Chandrashekhar Singh, of Lakhimpur police station. “Since his condition was critical, he was referred to Lucknow for higher treatment.”
