Agnieszka Kalinowska and Andrezej Latoszewski have been found guilty of killing Sebastian Kalinowsk, 15

A judge in the case of a teenager who was beaten and tortured to death has taken the usual step of discharging jurors from hearing any future cases due to the evidence they had to sit through.

Jurors had seen “horrifying” CCTV footage from the Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, home Agnieszka Kalinowska, 34, and her partner Andrezej Latoszewski, 37, shared with her son, Sebastian Kalinowski, 15.

Sebastian was found unconscious by paramedics at the family home on 13 August 2021.

A court this week heard Sebastian had suffered multiple injuries, including open wounds to his buttocks and numerous rib fractures, which the prosecution said caused the complications which led to his death.

Kalinowska had previously admitted to child cruelty, and while bodybuilder and martial arts fanatic Latoszewski also admitted to manslaughter, they both denied murder.

On Friday, Kalinowska and Latoszewski were found guilty of killing the teenager who died from organ failure due to sepsis brought on by multiple untreated broken ribs.

Justice Lambert DBE discharged the jurors after they were forced to watch horrific footage of the boy being punched, kicked and stamped on. In another video, he was whipped with a cable.

“Your commitment and your dedication to this case has been truly extraordinary, it really has,” Lambert told the jury. “You have had to endure quite horrifying footage of Sebastian suffering great pain over a period of time and then his death.”

She added: “May I thank you personally for all of your hard work, dedication and patience over the last six or so weeks.”

Sentencing has now been deferred until October at the earliest.
