Tiger Woods told law enforcement officers that he had been 'speaking to the president' in the minutes after his car accident last week, according to body camera footage viewed by The Athletic.
When approached, Woods can reportedly been heard saying: "I was just talking with the president," which, although currently unconfirmed, is believed to have been about Donald Trump.
After escaping unhurt from the crash, the 50-year-old golfer was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test.
Woods went on to spend eight hours in custody, before later being released on bail for the charge.
The reason for Woods' decision to contact Trump immediately after the incident is thought to have been down to the fact that the two have a close relationship.
The 15-time major winner was awarded a Medal of Freedom during Trump's first term as President.
Woods is also dating Trump's former daughter-in-law, Vanessa.
Vanessa and Donald Trump Jr had been married for 12 years and share children together.
Donald Trump has also addressed the situation of Woods' crash, speaking to reporters on Tuesday, he said: "I think he's doing great, he's doing good."
The crash on Jupiter Island last week was Tiger Woods' fourth motoring accident since 2009.
