Sergio Rico's wife has confirmed that the goalkeeper is out of a coma, three weeks on from his accident.
The goalkeeper was riding in the El Rocio region of Huelva when he was involved in a collision with a runaway horse and was submitted into intensive care as a result of the head injuries he suffered.
Rico had been taken off sedation a fortnight ago, but was then placed back into a coma just a few hours later.
However in an update with Spanish outlet Telecinco, Rico's wife Alba Silva revealed the latest on the Spaniard's health. She said: "We can finally see the end of the tunnel. We’re going there step by step.
"I knew from the beginning that he would get through it because he’s a champion."
Asked if the goalkeeper could recognise her and his family, she replied: "We’re going step by step. We need to be patient."
Rico spent the 2018/2019 season on loan at Fulham in the Premier League where he featured 32 times in all competitions, keeping six clean sheets in the process.
He failed to make a single appearance for PSG this season, acting as a back-up to Gianluigi Donnarumma.
