A kickboxer suffered a brutal injury during a fight when some of the front row of his teeth were knocked out.

Ulric Bokeme was competing at GLORY Collision 5 in the Netherlands, taking on Michael Boapeah.

Bokeme, 32, went into the bout with a favourable record of 32-3 record in kickboxing but his latest fight was only his second in three-and-a-half years.

Boapeah had the upper hand in the fight and that paid off as with just a minute of the first round remaining, he landed a heavy punch on Bokeme who turned back into his corner in visible pain.

He then quickly gestured to his mouth before spitting out his mouthguard to show that several of his front teeth had fallen out and were spotted on the mat.

The referee immediately called the fight off, sparking some confusion amongst the commentary team before they were notified of what had happened.

Beyond Kickboxing added more context as to what happened, saying: “Brutal start to the main card. Ulric Bokeme just got his front row of teeth knocked out against Michael Boapeah.

“He told his corner he couldn’t continue because some went down his throat.”

This was the first time the 32-year-old had lost a fight via technical knockout and it’s unlikely he’ll be fighting again any time soon as he prepares to undergo surgery.
