Scott Parker slams “unacceptable” surprise party for Terence Kongolo

Kongolo will not feature for Fulham this weekend after the breach of Covid regulations

Fulham boss Scott Parker has described a surprise party thrown for Terence Kongolo as "not acceptable". The defender was an unused substitute for his side's win over Everton at Goodison Park last week. He was later pictured returning to his apartment in the early hours of Monday morning, where friends greeted him by throwing a surprise party for his 27th birthday.

"In terms of Terence, he didn't know too much about it is my understanding," Parker told the media on Friday.

"You can imagine my reaction to it was not pleased in the current climate in terms of what everyone is facing," he added.

"It's not acceptable to be honest with you - the people who planned it put him in a vulnerable position."

Kongolo will not feature for Fulham, who are 18th in the Premier League, when they host fellow relegation battlers Sheffield United on Saturday. Instead, he is expected to play for the club's Under-23s as one of their allocated overage players.

Parker also suggested an internal investigation would be held to determine the incident.

Kongolo is the latest Premier League player to have breached regulations around Covid, after a string of high-profile incidents earlier in the season involving players from Manchester City, Tottenham and West Ham.
