Richarlison gives tearful interview after injury puts World Cup dream in doubt

Tottenham's Richarlison appears to be a major doubt for the World Cup after picking up an injury during Saturday's 2-0 win over Everton. The Brazil international was withdrawn in the 52nd minute of the game against his former club after suffering a calf injury. He was later seen on crutches.

Speaking to ESPN Brasil after the game, the 25-year-old was clearly devastated at the prospect of missing out on the tournament, which begins in Qatar next month."It's kind of hard to say because it's close to the realisation of my dream," a visibly upset Richarlison said.
"I've already suffered a similar injury to this but I hope it can heal as soon as possible.
"The last time when I was at Everton, I was out of action for about two months.
"I know it's hard to talk at this moment, but let's see, I'll recover. I have a scan on Monday but even walking hurts. I have to stay positive if I want to go to Qatar."

Brazil are expected to name their squad for the World Cup at the start of November, by which time the extent of Richarlison's injury and likely recovery time will be known. Their tournament opener comes on November 24, against Serbia. Speaking after the game, Antonio Conte confirmed the former Everton forward will miss the midweek game with Manchester United."For sure against Manchester United he's out," Conte said. "He felt something in his calf and he won't be available.
"I think he needs a bit of time to recover. It's a pity because we are talking about a player who gives us a lot of quality but is also strong and improves our intensity.
"He will have an MRI scan to understand it tomorrow, we hope it is not serious."
