Marcos Rojo is reportedly on the cusp of a Man United exit

Rojo appears to be heading to Spain

Marcos Rojo is in talks to join Valencia, according to reports in Spain.

The Manchester United defender, who joined the club two years ago from Sporting Lisbon, doesn’t appear to be part of Jose Mourinho’s plans, and wasn’t even amongst the substitutes for last Friday’s win over Southampton.

United are reportedly in the market for another central defender, with Saints defender Jose Fonte understood to be Mourinho’s main target.

Rojo, who can play in central defence or at left-back, failed to convince in either position over the past two seasons, and appears to have not done enough to warrant a place in the new United manager’s squad.

The Old Trafford club are reportedly prepared to take a financial loss on Rojo. The 26-year-old Argentine joined for around £17m, but Valencia’s bid is understood to be close to half of this fee.

Valencia appear to be preparing to spend some of the money they’re about to receive from Arsenal for German defender Shkodran Mustafi. The 24-year-old appeared to be on the brink of a move to London on Thursday night, as it was revealed Arsene Wenger was also close to completing a deal for Deportivo La Coruna striker, Lucas Perez.
