Amazon's multi-billionaire owner Jeff Bezos has been approached to join a consortium who are in the process of buying a 30% stake in one of the Premier League's biggest clubs.
The American tycoon, and owner of Amazon, Blue Origin and newspaper the Washington Post, is estimated by Forbes to be worth as much as $257bn.
A move into Premier League ownership would make sense for the the 46-year-old, who has reportedly sounded out investing in NFL sides Seattle Seahawks and Washington Commanders in the past.
According to Sky Sports, Bezos has been approached by Amit Bhatia, the former co-owner of EFL outfit QPR, and son-in-law of the billionaire steel tycoon Lakshmi Mittal.
The consortium Bezos would join, if he agrees to proceed, would be as part of a 30% minority takeover within Liverpool FC.
The Reds are currently owned by the American Fenway Sports Group (FSG), controlled by John Henry.
Bezos' potential involvement also comes just hours after a report emerged within in the Financial Times that FSG were considering a proposal over a minority stake.
FSG are reported to value Liverpool — the club they purchased 16 years ago for £300 million— in its entirety to be worth as much as $6bn (£4.5bn).
It now remains to be seen whether Bezos proceeds with the deal, and if FSG are prepared to sell any part of the club.
