Peter Crouch's wife, Abbey Clancy has revealed that their 15-year-old daughter nearly found herself in serious trouble with airport security after making a joke while travelling to the United States.
Speaking on The Therapy Crouch podcast, the model recalled flying to New York for the World Cup with her four children: Sophia Ruby, 15, Liberty, 11, Johnny, 8, and Jack, 7.
Clancy explained that Sophia had renewed her passport since her previous trip to the US, meaning she was required to provide her fingerprints again on arrival.
During the process, Sophia jokingly suggested there might be a gun linked to her fingerprints.
However, the comment caught the attention of a border officer in the arrivals hall and almost resulted in her being arrested.
She continued: “They were like ‘sorry Miss, what did you say? What fingerprints on the gun?’ and then she was like ‘there’s guns here and you could have my fingerprints…’ and they were like ‘what? your fingerprints are on a gun?’.””
As the situation became more serious, Abbey quickly stepped in to explain to the immigration officers that Sophia had not meant anything by the comment.
The drama continued moments later after a woman left her bag unattended just a few feet away from Abbey, triggering another security scare.
The family's bad luck wasn't over as when they finally collected their luggage, they discovered that their driver had already left after waiting too long.
Abbey admitted the stressful journey became too much and said she couldn’t help but burst into tears.
