The post was shared by Spanish news channel Espejo Publico and suggested Argentina's place in the final on Sunday (19 July) was fixed.

There has been a lot of speculation online that Argentina, who were world champions until Sunday, have been given a lot of leeway during the 2026 World Cup.

While the Argentinian players seemed to get away with quite a lot on the pitch, many people were baffled that they were not penalised for holding a provocative banner referring to the Falkland Islands, following the win in the semi-finals against England.

Meanwhile, following Spain’s win against Argentina in the final on Sunday, FIFA is launching an investigation into what unfolded after the game.

From Argentine players, punches were thrown on the pitch after the game came to an end.

In spite of these investigations, in the video liked by Ronaldo the football governing body is accused of being “one of the most corrupt institutions on planet Earth”.

Spanish journalist Pilar Rodriguez Losantos of Espejo Publico made the remarks as she discussed the World Cup results with contributor Rubén Amón, who, among other things, described FIFA as a “mafia” and dubbed it a “shameful organisation”.

Both TV stars suggested that the tournament was rigged in Argentina's favour.

“Argentina should have been eliminated at least five matches ago!”, Losantos told viewers tuning into Espejo Publico's coverage which aired before Sunday's final, Athlon Sports reported.
