Real Madrid are planning to make a big-money move for Erling Haaland as part of a plan to take the side into a new generation.

As per The Independent, Madrid are looking ahead to the future as they prepare to replace Karim Benzema in the long term and have identified Haaland as their perfect option.

The Norwegian has 27 goals from 25 games in all competitions this season and there is belief at Los Blancos that they can secure his services regarding any uncertainty surrounding Premier League’s multiple charges of City’s alleged breaches, and the style of play under Pep Guardiola.

Florentino Perez was supposedly willing to wait until the summer of 2024 before making a move for City’s number nine, but now could be ready to test their resolve as early as this summer.

Kylian Mbappé has been the main target for a long time at the Santiago Bernabeu, however president Perez is reportedly keen to move on following the Frenchman’s last minute decision to reject the Spanish side last year.

There was one stage where Perez considered bringing both of Mbappé and Haaland to the 14-time European champions, but that idea now seems to have cooled.

In addition to Haaland, Madrid are also reportedly growing in confidence about beating Liverpool and Manchester City to the signature of Jude Bellingham.

With Carlo Ancelotti’s future reportedly up in the air, Madrid want the transition to take place, with Bellingham and Haaland spearheading the new era.

Bellingham’s future is one of the hottest topics with the England international widely expected to leave Borussia Dortmund at the end of the season.
