Man United ‘relaxed’ about PSG’s pursuit of Marcus Rashford

Manchester United are 'relaxed' about Paris Saint-Germain's attempts to sign Marcus Rashford - despite reports that the player's representatives held discussions with the French club last week. Newly appointed PSG boss Christophe Galtier is believed to be in the market for another forward before the close of the window, with Rashford on the radar.

Rashford effectively has two more years at United

Reports in France claimed PSG could move for Rashford due to him having just one year to run on his United contract. Technically, this is true, but United have the option of triggering a one-year extension, so he effectively has two years remaining. Sky Sports say United are therefore relaxed about the situation. Should the 24-year-old's form improve under Erik ten Hag this season, he will almost certainly be offered a lucrative contract extension. United seem unlikely to consider letting any of their existing forwards leave before the close of the window. The club were expected to strengthen their forward line this summer - more so after Cristiano Ronaldo made it known he wanted to leave the club to play Champions League football this season.

Arnautovic move abandoned

Ronaldo is still a United player, but the club continue to be linked with moves for forwards. Earlier this week United were strongly linked with a surprise move for former Stoke and West Ham forward Marko Arnautovic, who now plies his trade in Italy with Bologna. Ten Hag had worked with Arnautovic during his time as an assistant to Steve McClaren at FC Twente and was thought to be keen on adding the 33-year-old to his squad. United have since ended their interest after the club was flooded with complaints by fans over Arnautovic's alleged history of racism. Related links:
